This mini documentary is the 2nd of our Solutions & Pollutions series and shines some light on the magic we create at our events here at The Green House Connection Center. We are a physical community space in the Globeville, Elyria, Swansea neighborhood which is otherwise known as one of the most polluted zip codes in the country. We interconnect arts and activism to focus on how we can find the joy and healing in these otherwise dark spaces. On a sunny day in June, community members, elected officials, environmental groups, city & state governmental agencies, elders, healers, & moms came together to share about bow pollution is impacting their children, health, & communities. 80216 is one of the most polluted zip codes in the country. It sits on two EPA Superfund sites, is intercepted by rail and highways and is surrounded by significant industrial pollution sources, including what used to be the Globe Smelting Plant & Suncor Refinery. We learned about the harm caused to indigenous tribes who were the original stewards of this land, the struggles elected officials and state agencies protecting our communities and the lived experience of the people who live in these neighborhoods. Our hope in coming together is to build rainbows and bridges amongst each other to better understand the issues, and begin co-creating solutions that will protect the health of the land we call home. #climatechange #environment #hope #joy #action #indigenous #environment
